Chris found his passion for coffee in the sleepy town of Hahndorf in South Australia where he frequented a coffee shop. He then went on to judge state and national barista competitions as Sensory and Head Judge. Chris later worked alongside the Director of the World Barista Championships overseeing the operations and training of over 30 Australian coffee stores, and then on to owning a successful Michel's franchise in Western Australia.
It was during this time that Chris started roasting on a small commercial roaster at his home, supplying locals and neighbours with their caffeine needs.
Chris moved back to the UK in 2015 and set up The Scandinavian Coffee Pod in Cheltenham and began roasting again, from which Studio Coffee Roasters was born. He made the decision during the pandemic to expand and relocate the roastery to a brand new custom roasting unit on the beautiful Spetchley Park Gardens estate in Worcestershire.
Rachelle began her coffee career during her time at University in a large high street coffee chain in Worcester, moving up to management and training. She later moved to East London, then later Brighton, where she began managing a busy coffee shop for an independent coffee roasters. Wanting to further her career, she started working in a local roastery where she learnt the ins and outs of production. Rachelle then moved back to Worcester to be closer to home and found Studio as it was starting up in Worcester, and jumped into her role as Head of Coffee & Roastery Manager.
