COFFEE ACADEMY
Do you want to improve your understanding of coffee, where it comes from and how it's processed? How about taking your home brewing skills to the next level? Maybe you work in hospitality and you, or your staff, need to be trained by an experienced barista? We are here for all levels of experience and can also tailor courses specifically for your needs!
Our courses are designed with you in mind and are run throughout the year at our roastery in Spetchley, situated close to junctions 6 and 7 of the M5, just outside of Worcester City Centre.

BARISTA BASICS
Duration: 2 hours
Price: £70 per person
Class size: maximum 4 people
Our Barista course focuses on all the practical skills required to become a barista. This course is perfect for coffee shops who wish to train new and current staff or for individuals who want to work in the hospitality industry.
During the 2 hours you will learn how to use coffee shop equipment and techniques to make professional coffee and other popular drinks.
This course will take you from complete novice to making café quality drinks in a few short hours.
What to expect:
This course is aimed at anyone who has not approached an espresso machine before, as well as new baristas, home enthusiasts and those looking for a refresher course.
This half-day hands-on course will give you the basic techniques in setting up your machine and grinder, pulling the optimum espresso, texturing silky smooth milk time after time and understanding the coffee menu.
The Barista Basics course includes:
- Harvesting, processing and roasting
- The barista's role
- Factors affecting coffee flavour
- The perfect espresso and quality control
- Milk texturing
- Drinks preparation and presentation
- Grinder and espresso machine operation, cleaning and maintenance

This is a fun and hands-on class that's ideal for all coffee lovers!. You'll explore the different variety of coffees we have on offer and discover how we source and roast our beans.
During the 4 hours you'll learn how to brew the best coffee using a variety of methods and taste how the roast and variety of bean changes the flavour of the coffee.
This course is designed for anyone who has an interest in coffee and wants to learn more about where coffee comes from, how it is processed, tasted and brewed.
Everyone will receive coffee and snacks on arrival, plus a bag of our coffee to take home at the end of the course.
In the 4 hours we will cover:
- where specialty coffee is grown and how it is processed
- professional cupping used to taste the differences between various regions, processing methods and roast profiles.
- using various brewing methods (including V60, AeroPress and espresso) to taste the differences between our coffees.
- we'll show you around our roastery, explore the different coffees we have on offer and learn how to use various home brewing methods to make a great tasting coffee
